What Determines the Cost of Your Smile Makeover

Six factors, in order of how much they move the final figure.

Which treatment actually solves your concern

Most cosmetic costs come down to choosing the right tool. Discoloured but well-shaped teeth need whitening (£199), not veneers. Small chips need bonding (£395). Only heavily worn, misshapen or dark teeth justify veneers (£595–£1,095+). A free consultation tells you which — and usually it is the cheaper option.

Number of teeth in your smile line

Per-tooth treatments scale with how many teeth show when you smile: typically 6 upper front teeth, 8–10 for a wider smile. Packages bring the per-tooth price down, and whitening the remaining teeth is far cheaper than treating them.

Material: composite vs porcelain

Composite (bonding and composite veneers) is placed in one visit with no lab fee and is repairable. Porcelain involves a laboratory, two visits and superior longevity and stain resistance — hence roughly double the price per tooth.

Whether alignment needs fixing first

Crowded or rotated teeth are better straightened with clear aligners (from £2,000) than masked with thick veneers. It costs more up front but preserves your enamel and produces a more natural result.

Preparatory work

Healthy gums and teeth are the foundation. A hygiene visit (£49 for new patients) is recommended before whitening or bonding, and any decay is treated first — usually eligible for member pricing.

Membership eligibility

Whitening, contouring, gum contouring, aligners, crowns and hygiene are 50% off for members. Composite bonding, composite and porcelain veneers and Smile Design are excluded and charged at the standard price for everyone.

Not Sure Which to Choose? See It First.

A Smile Design & Trial Smile appointment (£250) places a temporary mock-up of your proposed result over your own teeth — nothing drilled, fully reversible. If you go ahead with bonding or veneers, the £250 is deducted from your treatment. How Smile Design works
