Private Chlamydia Testing in the City of London
Chlamydia trachomatis is the most commonly reported bacterial sexually transmitted infection in England, with over 150,000 cases diagnosed annually according to the UK Health Security Agency. Many individuals with chlamydia experience no symptoms, which is why routine screening is recommended for sexually active adults, particularly those under 25 or with new sexual partners.
Our clinic uses nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT), which is the gold-standard method recommended by the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) for chlamydia detection. This molecular technique identifies chlamydial DNA with a high degree of sensitivity and specificity, reducing the likelihood of false results compared to older testing methods.
Untreated chlamydia may lead to complications including pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) in women, which can affect fertility, and epididymo-orchitis in men. However, it is important to note that not all infections lead to complications, and chlamydia is readily treatable with a course of antibiotics prescribed by a qualified medical practitioner. Our clinic does not prescribe antibiotics — if your result is positive, we will advise you to attend your GP or a sexual health clinic for treatment.
