About This Screening
Advanced Cancer-Aware Health Screening – Men 60+
Cancer risk increases significantly with age, and early detection remains one of the most important factors in improving treatment outcomes. This comprehensive panel has been designed specifically for men aged 60 and above, combining broad organ function assessment with targeted, age-appropriate cancer surveillance markers.
The screening includes over 40 biomarkers spanning all major organ systems. Full blood count provides information about red cell, white cell, and platelet indices — abnormalities in which can indicate haematological malignancy, chronic disease, or nutritional deficiency. Comprehensive metabolic assessment covers liver function (including GGT and bilirubin), kidney function (urea, creatinine, eGFR), and thyroid function, which becomes increasingly important to monitor with advancing age.
Key Highlights
- Complete prostate profile with Total and Free PSA ratio
- HE4 tumour marker for enhanced surveillance
- Lp-PLA2 cardiovascular risk assessment
- Comprehensive organ function evaluation
- Glycaemic and metabolic health assessment
Prostate health is assessed through both Total PSA and Free PSA with the Free:Total ratio calculated. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, with approximately 52,000 new cases diagnosed annually, and incidence rises sharply after age 50. While PSA is not a definitive diagnostic test, serial measurement and the Free:Total ratio provide clinically useful information for risk stratification and determining whether further investigation is appropriate.
HE4 (Human Epididymis Protein 4) is included as an additional tumour marker. While historically associated with ovarian cancer surveillance, HE4 is also expressed in lung and other epithelial malignancies and is increasingly recognised as a marker with broader utility in cancer screening panels.
Cardiovascular risk assessment includes a fasting lipid profile and NT-proBNP cardiac biomarker. Heart failure prevalence increases significantly with age, and NT-proBNP can identify subclinical cardiac dysfunction before symptoms manifest. Inflammatory markers (CRP and ESR) may indicate underlying inflammatory or malignant processes.
All samples are processed by a UKAS-accredited laboratory. This screening provides a data-driven health assessment — results should be interpreted in the context of individual medical history and clinical presentation.
